An
Introduction to Staff Services
The Presbytery of San Francisco
wants to be a presbytery that is not merely a regulatory entity
(a governing body), but also a resourcing body (supporting and
embracing the ministry of our congregations and specialized
ministries).
We
also want to be Presbyterians who are more than just connectional
(connected by committees, councils, and other structures), but
who are relational (connected to each other because we are connected
to and by our common Lord, Jesus Christ.)
Staff Responsibilities
Rev. Craig N. Palmer
Interim Executive Presbyter
My move from pastor to interim executive presbyter arises from my belief that our denomination needs healthy presbyteries supporting, building, and encouraging vital congregations. I bring 23 years of experience and passion to serving Christ's church. My commitment is to work with the leadership of San Francisco Presbytery to:
1) Deepen and broaden their spiritual journeys;
2) Strengthen the gifts and skills of pastors to provide creative, compassionate, and responsible leadership to the churches and validated ministries they serve;
3) Support, build, and encourage churches in their proclamation in word and deed of God's love revealed in our Lord Jesus;
4) Engage creatively in mission within the presbytery and throughout the church as God calls.
As we move forward in these areas, the specific challenge and a key focus for me during this interim time is stated in the job description: "To provide assistance to the Task Force on Structural and Systemic Issues in identifying and defining current Presbytery goals and initiating processes to implement perceived and needed change in the Presbytery."
I welcome the opportunity to serve Christ's church through my service to the Presbytery of San Francisco as Interim Executive Presbyter.
