Seeking – Director/Musician  (DM) for

New Contemporary Service

First Presbyterian Church of Newark, CA seeks a Director/Musician to help begin and establish new contemporary service.  FPCN is a loving and vibrant community of 200 that is looking forward to beginning an additional worship service designed for young families. 

The new position being created, Director/Musician (DM), will be a part time, paid position requiring a time commitment of between eight and ten hours weekly. 

Successful candidate will have some experience in planning and leading contemporary worship and should be a good musician and singer.  Director/Musician should be able to read music. Candidate must be a committed team player.  A statement of faith will be requested.

Director/Musician (DM) will plan the contemporary service, (with help from the Minister of Music and Worship as needed) and shall be responsible for the contemporary worship service of the church.

 Responsibilities will generally include:

• Plan services well in advance and lead the contemporary service with the help of volunteers. 
• DM will plan and direct weekly rehearsal.
• DM should continue to enhance and add to the worship/praise experience of the contemporary service.
• DM will report to Minister of Music and Worship.
• Estimated weekly time commitment: eight to ten hours.
